Borissov: It will take years to get over this inflation

Bulgaria could have been a very active participant in the region, and yet we are not. This is what GERB leader Boyko Borissov said, BGNES correspondent reports from the Danube town of Ruse.

Borissov commented on the results of the government of the tandem Kiril Petkov and Assen Vassilev.

The GERB leader harshly criticised former deputy prime minister and finance minister of "We Continue the Change" (PP) Assen Vassilev for not wanting Bulgaria to become a member of the euro area.

"Joining the eurozone is a political decision and this means that Bulgarian is capable. The eurozone would have been a fact a long time ago and we are still talking about some laws. Asen Vassilev does not want to join the eurozone, he is lying to us about that as well," Borissov said.

He compared the increase in pensions during his time and that made by PP: We were giving 50 leva at zero inflation, and now there is 30% inflation of basic goods.

Borissov accused PP of halting infrastructure projects in northern Bulgaria. He asked where is the airport in Ruse, which was one of the first decisions of the Petkov cabinet, and also the ferries and bridges, where did the money go for them.

Borissov said that the advances under the Recovery and Resilience Plan have been spent and for this reason he wants the finance minister and the president to come out and say what the real situation is.

He promised that he would find money for the Ruse-Tarnovo highway, Hemus and the roads in Northwest Bulgaria because without them people would leave.

Borissov stressed that "We Continue the Change" and "Yes, Bulgaria" have already lost the elections because by uniting they have admitted that they are weaker. /BGNES
