Alejandro Polanco: The conditions for North Macedonia are clear, good relations with Bulgaria are key

North Macedonia should fulfill the requirments set by the french proposal.

That was said by the Spanish ambassador Alejander Polanko in an interview with BGNES.

Regarding the calls of part of the political elite in North Macedonia for the conditions in the negotiating framework for EU accession to be changed, Polanco said that on this issue there are two important elements in North Macedonia.

"First, there is a dialogue between the RCC and the European Commission. During the French presidency of the EU Council and the first months of the Czech presidency, a proposal was created, which was accepted and it is on the table," the ambassador recalled.
"On the other hand, there are parallel talks between North Macedonia and Bulgaria. We hope that all requirements will be met and that this issue will go in the best possible direction," he added.

Polanco stressed that the need to fulfil the conditions for negotiations is well known.
"It is clear that we need, on the one hand, these requirements to be met - this is known to all of us. Also, good relations between the two countries and the proximity between them can help a lot to improve the possibilities for the development of this issue." /BGNES
