Denkov: Greece is interested in Chiren extension

The gas connections have been built and Greece played a key role last year to be able to feed the economy and consumers without interruption. At the moment we are working hard on expanding the intensity of the gas that can be fed through additional compressor stations, so that not only Bulgaria can be supplied, but also neighbouring countries. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov, who returned with the Bulgarian delegation from Greece, reports BGNES.

The other topic is the commitments on the development of the railway lines, which has already started to be implemented by Greece, one is to Kulata, the other to Svilengrad. The Greek railways are already working and this could contribute to more freight. There has been interest from the Greek side in the extension of Chiren, they are looking for people interested in keeping some of the capacity and being able to use additional volumes through payment. Interest was expressed in the development of the Kozloduy nuclear power plant in preparation for the new reactors, they said they would be interested in getting involved either as investors or by signing long-term contracts to use electricity, Denkov said.

We also discussed the Burgas-Alexandroupolis pipeline, the possibility of importing oil and feeding the refinery. Greece is interested in building it, we discussed possible routes and how this pipeline could be implemented in practice. In order to start a project of this type, first we have to choose a route, we have to look at the environmental assessment requirements and one of the problems we have with the first route, because there are protected areas and we have to redo the EIA, we are looking for alternative options, the Prime Minister stressed.

About Lukoil, Denkov said that if someone decides to sell Lukoil, it is their right. Talking about squeezing and repressive measures, this is not part of the government's plans, he said.

On May 24 becoming a national holiday, Denkov said that Vice President Yotova had already said she had no objections to the date, but doubted the arguments. Last year at this time we submitted such a report for discussion, so the arguments have always been the same, as a person of science and enlightenment for me May 24 has always been the brightest holiday. Whoever wants to add different arguments from what I have said. It is the holiday that unites us. Who is the group in Bulgaria that would argue that May 24 is a bright holiday for all of us, I do not know such a group of people.

This holiday makes a harmonious transition from the past to the future, Denkov said. May 24 is related to enlightenment, literacy, Bulgarian culture with its world achievements, what we are proud of. I see no reason to give up on that, Denkov said. If Yotova has a problem with the arguments, let her say others. Ninova has a problem with this date, say which date is better.

About the changes in the constitution, Denkov said that if we have a series of elections, it turns out that one person doesn't care what his name is, but he has all the control over the state, because he appoints the Council of Ministers, there is no National Assembly to exercise control, and this creates a situation that is not foreseen in our constitution, namely one person to rule the whole state. The idea of transferring power from one government to another in a different way is to avoid such situations, Denkov commented on the requested changes in the constitution. / BGNES
